League One leaders, Portsmouth take on mid-table Burton Albion as the betting tips continue in the English third tier at Fratton Park with the hosts looking to extend their lead at the top of the division.
Following a recent hiccup which saw Pompey lose 2-0 at home to Gillingham, Kenny Jackett’s side have bounced back in style by recording back-to-back wins against AFC Wimbledon and Fleetwood Town which has given the south coast club a very useful six-point margin at the top of League One.
Portsmouth hold a reasonable looking home record of 4-2-1 12/6 at Fratton Park where they’ve chalked up wins over Luton Town, Oxford United, Plymouth Argyle and Fleetwood Town but the recent loss to Gillingham was an unexpected blow. Midfielder Curtis (6 goals) leads the way for the hosts along with forwards Evans (4 goals) and Pitman (3 goals).
Burton Albion suffered relegation from the Championship at the end of last season as they finally succumbed to the drop but not before a few seasons of defying the odds on what was a shoe-string budget compared to the big hitters of the division.
Although they’ve dropped down to the third tier, the board have stuck by manager Nigel Clough who is in his second spell at The Brewers, and they come into this clash also having registered back-to-back wins with victories against Bristol Rovers at home and a 3-2 win away at Plymouth Argyle.
However, both of these wins were against opposition in the lower reaches of League One, and Burton now face a difficult trip to face in-form Portsmouth at Fratton Park with a very disappointing away record of 1-1-4 7/12 to their name.
Burton have already suffered defeats at Gillingham, Bradford City, Oxford United and Wycombe Wanderers and have yet to record a clean sheet on their travels this season.
