Preston NE Preview – Can Preston pick up where they left off?
In what was an otherwise forgettable campaign in the Championship last season, Preston North End suddenly came to life in the final weeks of last term as they won their final four matches of the season on the trot which saw them achieve a 13th place finish.
Victories over Derby County, Coventry City, Barnsley and Nottingham Forest saw Preston finish with a flourish and end their season on a high note, so Frankie McAvoy’s side may be feeling confident ahead of the start of this new season.
However, three defeats in their last four pre-season matches may have burst their bubble somewhat and they’ll face a tricky season-opener against newly-promoted, Hull City, this Saturday despite holding home advantage at Deepdale.
Hull City Preview – Can Tigers continue upward trajectory?
With just one defeat in their last 15 matches in least season’s third tier, Hull City achieved automatic promotion and also clinched the League One league title by a two-point margin over runners-up, Peterborough United, and The Tigers will be hoping they can continue this momentum into the Championship this season.
Hull City have also travelled pretty consistently as well as the visitors have lost just two of their last 11 matches on the road in all competitions, winning seven of these games.
The Tigers made an instant return to the Championship following last season’s promotion from League One and manager, Grant McCann, has options up front with the forward trio of Wilks, Magennis and Lewis-Potter scoring a total of 50 goals between them last season.
