Preston North End Prediction

After what was a difficult and disappointing start to the Championship season which saw Preston North End record just one win from their first 11 matches of the new season, Alex Neil’s side have since recovered and head into this weekend’s curtain-raiser in the second tier having suffered just one defeat from their last five matches overall.

That defeat was a 2-1 loss away at Rotherham United but points accrued against Aston Villa and Swansea City, both in 1-1 draws along with recent back-to-back wins against QPR and Stoke City (both of which were away from home), will give the hosts a timely boost ahead of entertaining Frank Lampard’s Derby County.

Preston’s overall home form has been fairly steady with a record of 5-6-3 29/22 as they’ve lost just once in their last nine matches at Deepdale, with a fair few goals thrown into the bargain as well – indeed, 12 of their 14 home matches have seen both teams score so far this term.

Key-Facts – Preston North End v Derby County

  • 12 of preston’s 14 home matches have seen both teams score
  • 10 of Derby’s 14 away matches have also seen both teams score
  • Derby County have scored in 11 of their 14 away matches to date

Derby County Prediction

Derby County continue to hold onto the all-important 6th place in the Championship and a claim for a play-off place after their recent 2-1 home win over Reading at Pride Park, and having successfully negotiated their way through what was potentially a tricky 4th round FA Cup tie with League One outfit Accrington Stanley, The Rams will also be in confident mood.

Frank Lampard’s side haven’t made it easy on themselves though as they’ve posted mixed results in recent weeks; wins over Norwich City and Reading have been cancelled out by reverses to Sheffield United and Leeds United, while an away record of 6-2-6 20/20 indicates a fair amount of inconsistency on their travels so far this season.

This is also reflected in their last six matches on the road which have alternated between wins and defeats, but what has been fairly consistent is the fact that both teams tend to score when Derby play away from home; 10 of their 14 away matches have seen this result come in to date.

Betting Tips Verdict

Both Preston North End and Derby County can score goals but also possess leaky defences so we should see both teams hit the back of the net in this one.
