Preston North End Preview – Can the Lilywhites make it back-to-back wins?

Alex Neil was recently sacked from the Preston North End hotseat after a poor run of results. While the club seek a permanent replacement for Neil, probably this summer, Frankie McAvoy will take temporary charge of first-team duties.

McAvoy guided Preston to a rare win last time out. An own goal from Matt Grimes right at the death gifted North End a 1-0 win over promotion chasing Swansea City at the Liberty Stadium. Prior to that, the Lancashire club were winless in six, losing four and drawing two since a 3-0 home victory over Huddersfield Town in February.

Our betting prediction:
Both teams to score
5/6

Preston have really struggled for wins in recent months, beating just Birmingham City, Blackburn Rovers, Huddersfield and Swansea since the turn of the year. Nevertheless, after shocking the Swans last weekend, can McAvoy’s boys do the same to the Bees this Saturday?

Brentford Preview – Bees to pick up big three points on the road?

Brentford’s automatic promotion bid has faltered after a disappointing run of results of late. The Bees looked a good bet to finish in the top two before their incredible 21-game unbeaten run came to an end in mid-February.

Since a 3-1 win at Reading on 10th February, which was their fourth victory on the spin, the London side have gone on to win just three Championship games, losing four times along the way. They head into this weekend’s match in Lancashire having drawn four on the spin.

After taking just four points from the last 12 on offer, Brentford could really do with a win at Deepdale on Saturday. They are the bookies’ favourites at evens.

Preston North End vs Brentford Betting Advice

These two were involved in one of the most incredible Championship games of the season when they met at the Brentford Community Stadium back in October. An Ivan Toney brace gave the Bees a commanding 2-0 lead at the break, but a stunning second-half display by Preston saw the away team leave with a 4-2 win. Scott Sinclair (2), Brad Potts and Sean Maguire were the scorers for North End.

Key Facts – Preston North End vs Brentford Betting Tip

  • Only one of the previous 14 Preston vs Brentford meetings has ended level
  • Preston have picked up just one win in seven
  • Brentford have drawn each of their last four matches

This is a massive matchup for Brentford as they look to close the gap on Watford and nail down a play-off spot. Preston will be buoyed after last weekend’s dramatic win in South Wales, but this will be a tough test for the Lilywhites.

We fancy Brentford to end their four-game drawing streak with a huge three points at Deepdale this Saturday. Take a punt on the away win and both teams to score at 7/2.

Ivan Toney is out on his own at the top of the Championship scoring charts. The 25-year-old has had an exceptional season at Brentford, scoring 28 goals. Put some money on Toney to net first here at 11/4.
