Alex Neil was recently sacked from the Preston North End hotseat after a poor run of results. While the club seek a permanent replacement for Neil, probably this summer, Frankie McAvoy will take temporary charge of first-team duties.
McAvoy guided Preston to a rare win last time out. An own goal from Matt Grimes right at the death gifted North End a 1-0 win over promotion chasing Swansea City at the Liberty Stadium. Brentford’s automatic promotion bid has faltered after a disappointing run of results of late. The Bees looked a good bet to finish in the top two before their incredible 21-game unbeaten run came to an end in mid-February.
