Preston North End have had made an indifferent start to their Championship season so far. Before last weekend’s 2-0 loss at Blackpool, the Lilywhites had lost just one of their previous nine in the league, though six of those have been draws.
Preston have looked good in the Carabao Cup so far, winning three out of three and scoring 11 goals. They won 3-0 at Mansfield Town in round one before beating Morecambe 4-2 on the road. In the last round, goals from Andrew Hughes, Joe Rafferty, Sean Maguire and Emil Ris Jakobsen gave North End a 4-1 home win over Cheltenham Town.
Preston have been tough to beat since making a poor start to their season, but getting the better of in-form Liverpool will surely be a step too far for Frankie McAvoy and his men.

Liverpool head into this Round of 16 cup tie in stunning form. The Reds are unbeaten in 13 league and cup matches this season, picking up ten wins and drawing three times. Since a 2-2 league draw with Manchester City, the Merseysiders have won three on the spin.
