Two teams with Premier League ambitions meet at Deepdale in the EFL Championship on Saturday, as Alex Neil’s Preston North End and Sabri Lamouchi’s Nottingham Forest lock horns. Forest are currently in the top six, while Preston are four points behind sixth-place Cardiff City. We have the latest betting odds and top tips for this one.

Preston North End Preview – Can the Lilywhites make it back-to-back wins?

Alex Neil’s Preston North End picked up a priceless three points last time out. The Lilywhites came from behind to win 3-1 at Sheffield Wednesday, with Scott Sinclair, Jayden Stockley and Brad Potts getting the goals at Hillsborough.

Victory in Sheffield on Wednesday was Preston’s first win since beating Hull City 2-1 at Deepdale back in February. Neil’s side had slipped away from the play-offs after taking just two points from a possible 21. However, they are now just four points behind Cardiff in sixth.

Our betting prediction:
Preston to be winning at half time
9/4

Preston had the best home record in the league for a large chunk of the season, but they have won just twice at Deepdale since December. Since that win over Hull, the Lilywhites have lost each of their last three at Deepdale, losing to Queens Park Rangers, Cardiff and Derby County. Can North End pick up a rare home victory at the weekend?

Nottingham Forest Preview – Will the Reds get back to winning ways?

Nottingham Forest lost a big six-pointer against Fulham last time out. It was a tight match at the City Ground, with Harry Arter’s excellent strike settling it in the Cottagers’ favour. That was the Reds’ first defeat since the restart. Nevertheless, Forest are still in pole position to take one of the four play-off spots.

Sabri Lamouchi’s troops have been one of the best away sides in the Championship this season. In fact, only West Bromwich Albion and Leeds United – the current top two – have amassed more away points up until now. Nottingham Forest have won eight, drawn ten and lost only three of their 21 away league fixtures so far.

Forest conceded at the death to draw 1-1 with rivals Derby County in their previous away game. Having then lost at home to Fulham, Lamouchi’s troops will be desperate to get back to winning ways this weekend. After the game at Deepdale, Forest play Swansea City, Barnsley and Stoke City in their last three.

Preston North End vs Nottingham Forest Betting Advice

In the reverse fixture at the City Ground earlier in the season, Billy Bodin put Preston 1-0 up five minutes before half time. Albert Adomah, who has recently returned from a loan spell with Cardiff, levelled for Forest with 11 minutes to go. In the end, the 1-1 draw was just about the right result in Nottingham.

Key Facts – Preston North End vs Nottingham Forest Betting Tip

  • Preston picked up their first league win since February last time out
  • Nottingham Forest have drawn ten of their 21 away league matches thus far
  • The last two Preston v Forest meetings have ended in draws

No team in the Championship have drawn more away games than Nottingham Forest this season, as almost half of their away fixtures have ended all square. I can see the Reds battling to another draw this weekend. Check out the decent odds of 7/2 for the draw and both teams to score at Deepdale.

Since scoring twice in a 3-1 home win over Huddersfield Town, Forest’s Lewis Grabban has failed to net in his last three games. Back the veteran to score anytime in this one at 6/4.
