Alex Neil’s Preston North End and Steve Cooper’s Swansea City clash in the EFL Championship at Deepdale on Saturday afternoon. The Lilywhites have the best home record in the second tier, but they have lost three of their last four league and cup matches on home turf. Can the Swans return to South Wales with all three points at the weekend?

Preston North End Preview: Will the league’s best home team secure another three points on their own patch?

Alex Neil’s Preston North End have been the real deal at home this season, with 32 of their 46 points coming at Deepdale. Preston have won ten, drawn two and lost three of 15 home league matches.

After three consecutive league and cup losses at Deepdale, North End sealed a vital 2-1 win over Charlton Athletic in their previous Championship encounter on home turf. After going a goal down, Josh Harrop and Patrick Bauer were on target for the Lilywhites to turn the game on its head.

Our betting prediction:
Over 2.5 goals

Preston followed up that win with an impressive 3-0 victory at Barnsley last time out. Neil’s boys were very efficient in front of goal, with first-half strikes from Tom Barkhuizen (2) and Daniel Johnson doing the business at Oakwell. North End are now right back on track in their push for promotion to the Premier League.

Swansea City Preview – Can the Swans claim a rare away win?

Steve Cooper made a huge impact when he first arrived at Swansea City, as the Welsh club were top of the league during the first international break. Although the Swans have failed to keep up those high standards, they are still nicely positioned in the Championship table.

Ahead of this weekend’s trip to Deepdale, Swansea are just two points adrift of the play-off spots and a place and a point behind Preston. Overall, Cooper’s men have won 12, drawn nine and lost eight. Last Saturday, though, Swansea were beaten 2-0 by lowly Stoke City at the bet365 Stadium.

The team from South Wales have certainly struggled on their travels this season, winning just one of their last eight league and cup away matches. Since a 2-1 win at Wigan Athletic on November 2nd, Swansea have only won at bottom club Luton Town. Can they put things right with a priceless three points on the road at the weekend?

Preston North End vs Swansea City Betting Advice

With both teams pushing for the play-offs, we should be in for an entertaining matchup in Lancashire. When the two sides locked horns at the Liberty Stadium back in August, Swansea ran out 3-2 winners in a captivating contest. Let’s hope for much more of the same on Saturday.

Key Facts – Preston North End vs Swansea City Betting Tip

  • Preston have the best home record in the Championship
  • Swansea have won just once on the road since early November
  • These two played out a five-goal thriller in the reverse game in Wales, with the Swans edging it 3-2

On paper, the pair are pretty evenly matched, with just one point separating them in the current Championship standings. With that in mind, I can see Preston and Swansea playing out an entertaining draw at Deepdale. Take a punt on the draw and over 2.5 goals, which you can get at the tempting odds of 21/10.
