Preston North End Preview – Lilywhites to make home advantage count?

Preston North End had another solid season under Alex Neil last time around. The Lancashire club finished in ninth place in the table, amassing an impressive 66 points in the process. Despite missing out on the play-off positions, it was another step in the right direction for North End.

Overall, Preston won 18, drew 12 and lost 16 of 46 league fixtures, scoring 59 and conceding 54 along the way. The Lilywhites were solid at Deepdale, with only five teams taking more home points. Neil’s side picked up 12 wins from 23 Championship games on their own patch.

Preston started their 2020-21 campaign with a home win in the EFL Cup last weekend. North End ran riot against EFL League Two Mansfield Town, with goals from Tom Barkhuizen, Sean Maguire, Patrick Bauer and Josh Harrop earning them a convincing 4-0 home victory. Can they make it back-to-back home wins this Saturday?

Swansea City Preview – Swans to start with a narrow away defeat?

Steve Cooper did an outstanding job in his first year at the Liberty Stadium. Against the odds, Cooper guided Swansea City to sixth place and a spot in the Championship play-offs. However, after getting into the top six in remarkable fashion on the final day, the Swans were beaten over two legs by Brentford in the semis.

Swansea made a stunning start to their 2019-20 season, and the Welsh side would love to replicate that this time. City won five and drew one of their opening six to go into the first international break of the season at the top of the table. They fell off as the season progressed but hung in there to take sixth spot.

Swansea were one of the best away sides in last season’s second tier, taking an impressive 35 points on their travels. Only promoted Leeds United and West Bromwich Albion picked up more away points. However, Swansea were beaten 2-0 away from home by fellow Welsh side Newport County in the EFL Cup last weekend.

Preston North End vs Swansea Betting Advice

Back in August last year, Swansea beat Preston in a five-goal thriller at the Liberty Stadium. Borja Baston’s second goal proved to be the winner. The teams then drew 1-1 at Deepdale in February, with Rhian Brewster’s goal cancelling out Scott Sinclair’s opener.

Key Facts – Preston North End vs Swansea Betting Tip

  • Preston have won just one of their last seven meetings with the Swans
  • Two of the last three have ended in 1-1 draws
  • Swansea lost only four away matches in last season’s Championship

On paper, these two teams seem well matched. As previously mentioned, promotion will be the main aim for both, but who can get their season up and running with three points this Saturday?

With this one taking place at Deepdale, Preston could have the slight edge. We like the look of the North End win and both teams to score at the generous odds of 4/1.
