Match day five in the Champions League continues on Wednesday night and my next picks focus on Group B with French champions-elect, PSG, taking on Celtic at their Parc des Princes with the hosts looking to extend their 100% winning record.
PSG have been totally and absolutely dominant in the group stages so far, winning all four of their matches and scoring a total of 17 goals whilst conceding none to date. I fully expect their ruthlessness to continue on Wednesday night as they look to confirm winning the group, and they thrashed Celtic 5-0 away on match day one at Celtic Park.
In addition, PSG have registered convincing wins over Bayern Munich 3-0, and Anderlecht in away and home fixtures, winning 4-0 and 5-0 respectively. With forwards Cavani, Neymar and Mbappe in their attacking ranks, there should be further goals this evening.
Visitors Celtic look very unlikely to qualify for the knock-out stages of the Champions League this season as they sit in third place but six points behind Bayern Munich who travel to bottom club, Anderlecht, on match day five, in a match that the German side are expected to win.
Nevertheless, Celtic’s european ambitions still remain in good shape as they look set for a Europa League spot (assuming Anderlecht don’t win their last two group matches), but the Scottish side do look to have their work cut out to get anything from their trip to Paris on Wednesday night.
Celtic’s only win so far in Group B was a resounding 3-0 win away at hapless Anderlecht, but a heavy defeat to PSG, along with losing home and away fixtures to Bayern Munich is likely to result in Europa League involvement for the Scottish champions.
