Free-scoring PSG host Monaco in the game of the weekend in Ligue 1. The leaders can retain their nine point lead over Marseille in second place with a win against a Monaco now under the care of Roberto Moreno.

PSG Preview – Will Verona make it consecutive wins for the first time since November following victory over SPAL?

Marseille’s win on Friday reduced the lead at the top to six points, however the champions have two games in hand over their nearest rivals. The Parisians come into this match in spectacular form, too. PSG have won their last eight games in all competitions and are averaging over four goals during that run.

It’s not been a season without some missteps and they have lost three games in the league already, but there’s no doubting that they are looking ominous at the moment. Should they win this match and their other game in hand, it looks virtually certain PSG will be celebrating another title.

Our betting prediction:
PSG to score in both halves

There were many wondering how Thomas Tuchel could fit in his four star attacking players but the recent signs are at they he’s found a system. At least domestically. PSG have started with all four of Neymar, Mbappe, Icardi and Di Maria of late and they have looked formidable.

If that selection is transferable into Europe then providing they are all kept fit then this could be the year where PSG fulfil their potential in the Champions League. That is in addition to continuing their domination of domestic football.

Monaco Preview – Can Genoa follow up a rare victory with another three points and potentially move out the bottom three?

There was something of a surprise when Monaco decided to change coaches just before Christmas. Leonardo Jardim’s second spell in charge never lasted as much as a year but his team had been showing improvement in the weeks leading up to his departure. Indeed, his last game was a 5-1 win over Lille.

Jardim’s position has been filled by Roberto Moreno, the former caretaker and assistant head coach of the Spanish national team. His reign got off to a winning start in the French Cup with a dramatic late winner in added time. His first taste of Ligue 1 could not be tougher, however.

Monaco will feel they are very much in with a chance of finishing third and making it into the qualifiers for next season’s Champions League. And rightly so. They may be in seventh spot at the moment but they are only five points behind Rennes and have a game in hand over most of the teams above them.

That’s an attractive looking objective for Moreno but he will have to try and find the consistency that Monaco have lacked for much of the season. They come into this game on what is their longest unbeaten run of the campaign so far – a mere four matches.

PSG vs Monaco Betting Advice

For a couple of years this was the biggest game in French football when Monaco were challenging for – and winning – the Ligue 1 title. That’s definitely not the case nowadays and this is a fixture which PSG have dominated of late. The Parisians have won the last nine meetings between the teams and have been scoring for fun in it. Considering their current run of form that is something which Monaco may be fearful of once again.

Key Facts – PSG vs Monaco Betting Tip

  • PSG have won their last eight games in all competitions scoring 34 goals
  • The Roberto Moreno reign at Monaco got off to a winning start in last weekend’s cup game
  • PSG have won the last nine meetings between these two and have hit at least four goals on five occasions

It looks very much like an uphill task for Monaco to take anything from this game PSG have been scintillating and this new system (with the fearsome foursome all contributing) is going to be a threat for anybody.

Five of the nine wins over Monaco have been when scoring at least four goals. As such the betting tip for this game is PSG to win and four or more goals in the game. It’s also a bet that has won in six of PSG’s home games this season.
