The last time these two sides met was 11 years ago when Inter Milan won both home and away legs.
Onto Inter Milan then, and the Italians secured what could be a vital 2-1 home win over Premier League outfit Tottenham on match day one which has given Inter early ascendency in the group along with Barcelona.
Inter will be brimming with confidence ahead of this important Champions League fixture as they’ve recorded four wins on the trot in all competitions which include wins over Tottenham, as well as three Serie A victories against Sampdoria, Fiorentina and Cagliari.
It’s been seven years since Inter Milan were properly involved on the Champions League stage and admittedly their results away from home last time out were a little inconsistent; a defeat at Schalke and draw at Trabzonspor were offset by wins at CSKA Moscow and Lille, but I do feel they’re back on the way up under manager Luciano Spalletti.
My betting tips for this clash are on Inter Milan to at least avoid defeat here, and they might even nick the win.
