The final round of group matches of the Copa America will be played on Sunday in Group B and we turn our attentions to the clash between Qatar and Argentina in what could be a winner-takes-all showdown as the betting tips continue at the Arena do Grêmio.
Qatar Prediction- Can Qatar grab unlikely 2nd spot?
Despite failing to win any of their opening two matches in Group B, invitees to this year’s Copa America tournament, Qatar, still remain in the hunt for a top two finish.
Qatar opened their account with a 2-2 draw against Paraguay despite being 2-0 down, but this encouraging point was followed by defeat.
A 1-0 defeat to Colombia now means that they need to get a result of some sort against Argentina and hope that Colombia beat Paraguay in their final group match.
Qatar will no doubt be hoping that Argentina fail to turn up yet again for this third and final match in Group B, but Qatar are now without a win from their last 3 matches.
They didn’t have the best preparations for the start of this Copa America tournament as they were handed a 2-0 loss by Brazil beforehand.
However, Qatar put in a great performance in the Asian Cup recently where they lifted the trophy thanks to a 3-1 win over Japan in the final.
Argentina Prediction – Can Argentina finally click into gear?
It’s been a tournament to forget so far for Group B favourites, Argentina, as they sit bottom of the four-nation group with just 1 point to their name.
Argentina suffered a surprise 2-0 loss to Colombia in their opening match in Group B and things didn’t exactly improve after that either.
A 1-1 draw with Paraguay wasn’t the ideal result either for Argentina who now must grab all three points in this final group match to have a chance of a quarter-final spot.
Prior to the start of this tournament, Argentina had recorded 4 wins out of their 5 matches beforehand, but recent displays have been decidedly below-par since.
A 5-1 thrashing of Nicaragua isn’t any kind of yardstick but the fact that Argentina have won by 3+ goals margin in just 4 of their last 16 matches overall may be.
Wins over Guatemala 3-0, Iraq 4-0, Haiti 4-0 and the 5-1 win over Nicaragua have been their convincing victories, but they may find Qatar a more stubborn opponent here.
