Qingdao Huang Preview – Another resilient home displays in the offing?

Among two new additions to the Chinese Super League, it has been a solid if unspectacular performance up until now from Qingdao Huang (6th – W1 D4 L2). A key takeaway so far has been the team’s ability to remain consistently competitive at this level, losing only two of seven Super League match-ups, which includes avoiding defeat against arguably the best two teams in their section.

Neither Shanghai SIPG or Beijing Guoan, in first and second place respectively in Group B, managed to get the better of Wu Jingui’s men in Qingdao, gamely battling to entertaining scoring draws at their Conson Stadium. It remains to be seen how they fare in the reverse fixtures, seeing as both clashes will be away from home second time around, but it nonetheless showcases how capable this team can be on their day.

While they should be applauded for not incurring too many losses, Qingdao can just as easily be reprimanded for a lack of wins. Just the one win all season – with that coming against the only winless side in the entire Super League, recording a 2-0 victory away to Tianjin Teda on Gameweek 6 – having lost 2-1 last time out at home to Hebei. The latter result compounded by losing leading scorer Romain Alessdandrini to suspension.

Wuhan Zall Preview – Time to banish away woes?

With four wins from their opening seven Super League matches in Group B, which is three more than Tuesday’s opponents have so far managed, Wuhan Zall (3rd – W4 D0 L3) will be all too aware that their position within this section is a commanding one. The ‘Han Army’, who are the same distance (five points) from top as they are to fifth place, on course to finish in the top-four that would see them progress onto the Championship Stage.

A lot could change in the second part of this group though, so it isn’t as though coach Jose Gonzalez can afford for his team to ease up anytime soon. Three points here would be another big stride towards qualification, but it would also see them climb up into second and above Beijing Guoan, who are in action later in the day. However, there is one not-so-insignificant stumbling block: their abysmal record when playing away.

Across three away outings so far, coming against Beijing Guoan, Shanghai SIPG and Hebei, Wuhan Zall have accrued a grand total of zero points. They’ve relied solely on their imperious form back home to keep them ticking over. The good news, though, is they can now look ahead to a favourable run of away fixtures beginning with this trip to Qingdao Huang – a side they beat 2-0 in Wuhan in the first batch of group games.

Qingdao Huang Vs Wuhan Zall Betting Advice

For a side still to register a win at home, having won only once in seven altogether, this has to be regarded as a presentable fixture for Qingdao Huang. They’ve managed a couple of eye-catching draws at home, too, against the teams in first and second but were, however, beaten 3-1 on their own patch last time out by Hebei. The visitors, meanwhile, are a Wuhan Zall side without a single away point thus far (L3).

Qingdao Huang vs Wuhan Zall – Key Facts

  • 3 – All three of Qingdao Huang‘s home Super League games (D2 L1) this season featured both teams scoring.
  • 0 – Wuhan Zall remain without a point after three away matches so far this season, losing on their latest two away outings despite scoring.
  • 11 – Tuesday will mark the eleventh competitive meeting between the teams since 2014. Qingdao Huang have won only once (W1 D5 L5) – a 3-2 at home in 2017 – and were 2-0 losers in Wuhan in July.

Losing a player with more goal contributions (4G/1A) than anyone else in your team is a huge blow and this is something Qingdao Huang must contend with, after losing Frenchman Romain Alessandrini to suspension. I’m anticipating goals. Both teams have scored in all three home matches for Qingdao Huang this season while Wuhan Zall are two from three away, with four of their last five Super League contests going this way.
