QPR Prediction

QPR moved up to 10th place in the Championship under manager Steve McClaren as they posted a second league win on the trot on the weekend against Nottingham Forest 1-0 away at the City Ground.

That was QPR’s first ever win at the City Ground and it followed last week’s 2-1 home win over Middlesbrough as the Tractor Boys have now recorded back-to-back wins in the Championship for the first time since October.

QPR started the season in horrific fashion as they lost their first four league matches on the trot but have since recovered well and have only lost five of their subsequent 19 matches thereafter. A home record of 6-1-4 16/13 has also seen steady improvement as The R’s have won four of their last five at Loftus Road with wins over Sheffield Wednesday, Aston Villa, Brentford and Middlesbrough.

Forwards Wells (5 goals), Freeman (4 goals) and Hemed (3 goals) are the hosts’ leading goalscorers.

Ipswich Town Prediction

Following a poor run of results which saw Ipswich Town go nine matches without a win and losing seven of these, Paul Lambert’s side are perhaps now beginning to show the first signs of a recovery as they collected a much needed three points with a recent 1-0 home win over Wigan Athletic and then shared the points with high-flying Sheffield United in a 1-1 draw on the weekend.

However, this recovery will be tested when Ipswich travel to QPR on Boxing Day particularly when you consider that Ipswich have lost four of their last five on the road with defeats suffered at Leeds United, Millwall, Nottingham Forest and Stoke City.

Perhaps even more worrying is that Ipswich failed to score in those four recent defeats and an overall away record of 1-2-8 8/22 doesn’t fill me with much confidence that they’ll suddenly start getting results on the road here.

Betting Tips Verdict

QPR continue to improve while Ipswich need to show they can also pick up points on their travels.
