QPR – R’s favourites to make it five on the spin?

Late winners feel that much sweeter and so Albert Adomah’s 88th-minute strike to snatch three points away to Coventry City on Saturday will have brought a wry smile to the face of Mark Warburton, the QPR manager. Even more so because it continued the excellent form of his team. The Hoops have won seven of their last nine (L2) in the league including the last four in a row, climbing to fourth in the table.

The R’s are now within two points of second-place Bournemouth and an automatic promotion berth, after what was their fourth consecutive away league win. However, here at their Kiyan Prince Foundation Stadium in West London, QPR have won only one of their past three encounters (L2) but did get back to winning ways at this venue with a hard-fought 1-0 success over promotion rivals West Brom last time out.

Key Stat: Each of QPR’s last six victories in the Championship were by a one-goal margin (four of their last five by way of a 2-1 scoreline), as were four of their seven secured as hosts.

Swansea – Another pointless outing away to a top team?

No team has completed fewer of their allotted games in the Championship this season than Swansea, who have played just twice since the middle of December owing to Covid-19 restrictions and now have as many as four games in hand over the teams above them. And there are now a lot of teams above them. Were they to win all their spare fixtures, though, they would be sniffing around the play-offs.

That is asking a lot of a side which had won once in seven (D2 L4) prior to Saturday’s scrappy 1-0 victory against Preston. That it required a stunning strike from distance from Ryan Manning to settle matters in Wales rather summed up their recent struggles. Yet it felt like an important three points, not least because it was their first in four home outings having shipped seven goals in back-to-back losses beforehand.

Key Stat: The Swans haven’t fared well against the division’s top sides this season, losing away to the teams currently in first (3-1 vs Fulham), second (4-0 vs Bournemouth) and third (2-1 vs Blackburn).

QPR Vs Swansea Betting Advice

Confidence should be high in both camps after victorious outings over the weekend. QPR making it four wins on the bounce with a battling display away to Coventry City as Swansea ended a poor run of form that had seen them fail to win any of their previous four with a 1-0 triumph at home to Preston. The last three head-to-heads, meanwhile, have seen a mere three goals, with both exchanging away victories last term.

QPR Vs Swansea – Key Facts:

  • Recent encounters between the teams have typically been tight and low scoring, with the last three going Under 2.5 Goals and five of the past six seeing no more than one team score.
  • Victory for QPR would give them five successive wins in the Championship, with each of their last four coming by way of a one-goal winning margin.
  • Swansea are seeking to win back-to-back Championship matches for the first time since early November, having previously been without a win in four (D1 L3).

Only one of their last six Championship meetings has seen both teams among the goals, suggesting we could be set for an attritional encounter in West London. Swansea haven’t scored in two of their past four away matches, losing both, and could find this in-form QPR, which has secured its last four home wins without conceding, too good. In fact, six of QPR’s seven home league wins this season were ‘to nil’.
