Queen of the South basically have to win to keep their playoff hopes alive but will find it difficult against Raith Rovers who remain in second spot but need points themselves.

Queen of the South – Will Queens get back to winning ways as they bid for a surprise top four finish?

The first part of this campaign for Queen of the South and their boss Allan Johnston was spent wondering if they were going to have enough to stay in the division. Now, with just four games of the regular season to go, the Dumfries club are still in the hunt for a top for finish and entry into the promotion playoffs.

Their hopes took something of a hit when only drawing with Inverness at home on Saturday but Queens remain just three points behind that rival with this their game in hand.

Whether they can finish the job or not remains to be seen but Queen of the South’s form since the end of December has been excellent. They have won eight of their last 14 league games which – when you consider how competitive this division is – is very good going for one of the teams who are expected to be closer to the bottom end.

In that time they have taken four points from two games against runaway leaders Hearts, lost just one of seven home games and scored at least once in each of their league matches.

Raith Rovers Preview – Can Rovers get the points they need that would almost seal their position in the playoffs?

Hearts may have clinched the Championship title at the weekend but back-to-back promotions are still very much on for Raith Rovers. Last season’s League One champions remain in second spot despite managing just a draw at home to lowly Arbroath on Saturday. John McGlynn will be extremely frustrated that his team not only dropped points but to do so having gone two goals up.

Nevertheless, they have an immediate chance to bounce back and know that a win would put them on the cusp of sealing a playoff place and keep them ahead of Dundee who are hot on their heels for second.

The advantage of finishing second and facing just one play-off tie before the final will not be lost on McGlynn. His team may have a cushion over fifth place Dunfermilne, he will be wanting to take as many points as possible on their pursuit to finish runners-up.

Raith have been one of the form teams in the Championship with two wins and two draws from their last four, but they have also been consistent throughout the campaign. Rovers do have Dundee and Hearts to come in two of their final three games, however.

Queen of the South vs Raith Rovers Betting Advice

Queens are attempting to climb into the playoffs whilst Rovers are intent on not only staying there but finishing as best of the rest. With only three games left for each it really is the business end of the season and the pressure on all the games is going to be significant.

If previous meetings between the two are anything to go by then it’s Raith who will be hopeful as the visiting team in the last two meetings has went on to take the spoils.

Key Facts – Queen of the South vs Raith Rovers Betting Tip

  • Queen of the South come into this game having lost just one of their last seven home games in the Championship
  • Raith have taken eight points from their last four league games
  • The two previous meetings this season have went the way of the visiting team on both occasions

This could well be a really tight match with little to choose between the teams on current form. Raith’s last four away games have contained a total of four goals. At the same time, three of Queens’ last five at home have went under 2.5 goals.

As such, I’m taking en under 2.5 goals in this match.
