Queens Park Rangers Preview – Can Rangers return to winning ways?

Mark Warburton’s Queens Park Rangers started their Championship season with an excellent 2-0 win over Sabri Lamouchi’s Nottingham Forest at the Kiyan Prince Foundation Stadium. A Lyndon Dykes penalty and a late Ilias Chair goal did the damage in that one.

QPR failed to follow that up with another win last weekend, though, as they were beaten by Championship new boys Coventry City in a five-goal thriller at St Andrew’s Trillion Trophy Stadium. Despite taking the lead, Rangers crashed to a 3-2 defeat in Birmingham.

Our betting prediction:
Both teams to score
4/5

Queens Park Rangers had a mixed bag of results on home soil last season. The R’s won nine, lost nine and drew five of 23 league matches at the Kiyan Prince Foundation Stadium. Having started with a home win two weeks ago, can the R’s get all three points from this one?

Middlesbrough Preview – Will Boro secure first league win of new season?

Middlesbrough have taken one point from a possible six so far. Neil Warnock’s Boro started the season with a 1-0 defeat to Watford at Vicarage Road, which they followed up with a 2-0 home loss to Barnsley in the Carabao Cup.

Middlesbrough did manage to put their first point on the board last weekend, drawing 1-1 with Jason Tindall’s Bournemouth at the Riverside Stadium. They fell behind to a Dominic Solanke goal, but Marcus Browne’s leveller nine minutes from time rescued a point.

Middlesbrough’s only win this season came against Shrewsbury Town in the first round of the Carabao Cup back in early September. Can they secure their first victory of their 2020-21 Championship campaign this weekend?

Queens Park Rangers vs Middlesbrough Betting Advice

In July, QPR left the Riverside Stadium with a 1-0 win thanks to a Jordan Hugill goal. The reverse match at the Kiyan Prince Foundation Stadium ended in a 2-2 draw back in November.

Key Facts – Queens Park Rangers vs Middlesbrough Betting Tip

  • Middlesbrough have won just one of the previous four Championship meetings
  • Boro have netted only one league goal in two matches so far
  • Two of QPR’s three league and cup games this term have ended in 3-2 defeats

With these two evenly matched on paper, this game in west London is a tough one to call. Queens Park Rangers will fancy their chances on their own patch, but Middlesbrough cannot afford another defeat after taking just one point from a possible six so far.

With that in mind, we fancy Rangers and Boro to play out a draw at the Kiyan Prince Foundation Stadium. The 1-1 draw at 5/1 has caught our eye.

Since making the switch to QPR from Scottish football, Lyndon Dykes has started life in London in fine fettle. The 24-year-old has already scored twice for Rangers, as well as netting two goals for Livingston and one for Scotland this term. Dykes is available at 5/1 to open the scoring in this one.
