QPR are the in form team in the Championship and have a chance to close on the leaders when they take on a Stoke team who have dropped out the playoff zone in recent weeks.

Queens Park Rangers Preview – Can QPR make it four straight wins to inch closer to the top two?

QPR were never expected to be challenging for promotion this season but Mark Warburton and his team are right in the next in the first week of December. Of course it’s all about where they are come May but the signs are very positive just now. ‘Rangers are unbeaten in their last six league games, winning four of them. That’s good enough to see them sit eight points off second place coming into this game. A win would put them back into third spot.

If QPR do get the the victory here it would be the first time since the beginning of the year they have won four matches in a row in the league.

QPR’s home form has been particularly impressive with six wins and three draws from 10 games. Their only home loss came against Bristol City back in September. Since that reverse they have five and drawn once at Kiyan Prince Stadium. They’ve also kept three clean sheets in the last four home games which is a distinct improvement from earlier in the season.

Scotland internationalist Lyndon Dykes and Moroccan midfielder Illias Chair are joint top scorers with six goals but neither have been in great form in front of goal in recent weeks.

Stoke City Preview – Will Stoke bounce back after two defeats to keep on the heels of the playoff pack?

Since coming back from the most recent international break Stoke have lost two of their three games. 1-0 defeats at the hands of Bristol City and Blackburn Rovers have not been the way that Michael O’Neill would have envisaged his team’s form going after three consecutive victories – all achieved without conceding a goal.

It means Stoke have dropped out the top six for the first time in a while but they know a win here would not only see them climb back into the playoffs, but also to within a point of their opponents and bringing automatic promotion back into their vision.

Away from home has been Stoke’s biggest issue this far. It’s slightly better now with a couple of recent wins on the road but their 10 games for the season has seen them win just three and draw two. If they can show improve form on their travels and maintain their strong home record then they would be serious contenders for a top two finish.

There’s no doubt that O’Neill’s team are missing the influence of Nick Powell in midfield. He’s not played since the middle of October having started the season with five goals in nine games.

Queens Park Rangers vs Stoke City Betting Advice

This is an fixture where QPR have had the upper hand in recent meetings. They’re unbeaten in the last six meetings with Stoke – winning three of them. Stoke’s last win against ‘Rangers was back in 2015, they’ve not won at this stadium since 2013 when the teams were in the Premier League.

There’s no doubting QPR have tightened up in recent weeks and that’s backed up by the fact they have kept clean sheets in three of their last five. They had managed just three in their last 13 before that.

Key Facts – Queens Park Rangers vs Stoke City Betting Tip

  • Mark Warburton’s QPR are unbeaten in six Championship matches, winning four of them
  • Only one team has scored in each of Stoke’s last five league matches (three wins, two defeats)
  • QPR are unbeaten in their last six against Stoke – three wins and three draws

With both teams involved in low-scoring games of late it would be natural to think this is also going to be a match of few goals. Six of QPR’s last nine at home have went under 2.5 goals, as have Stoke’s last five home and away. It looks an obvious selection in this one.
