Aberdeen to inflict more misery on Rangers

Scottish Premiership Betting Tips

Wednesday 29th November Kickoff 1945hrs Rangers v Aberdeen Football – Scotland – Scottish Premiership It’s been another dismal spell for Rangers supporters who continue to see their club disappoint both on and off the pitch. Despite sacking manager Pedro Caixinha over a month ago, Rangers are still without a permanent manager and have just lost their last two games. The tests continue to come for the Ibrox club as they face Aberdeen twice in five days. With an impending AGM, the board will be desperate to see some improved performances on the park to appease the fans somewhat, before that takes place.

Much was expected from Rangers following the considerable spend in the summer. It was an awful start, however, as the were eliminated from the Europa League at the first time of asking Luxembourg minnows. Things have not got much better since despite the sacking of Caixinha and Graeme Murty taking over for a second spell as interim manager in the space of a year. Although there seemed to be an immediate reaction with two wins against Hearts and Partick Thistle, defeats to Hamilton at home and Dundee away have been a further wake up call as to just how much work there is to do to get this squad challenging for at least second spot. They play the current incumbent of that position twice this week with the odds stacked against them in current form.

Aberdeen have been the second force in Scotland for a number of years now and will be looking to cement themselves as that with a strong showing against Rangers in their next two encounters. The Dons returned to winning ways on Sunday with a 3-1 success away to Kilmarnock, ensuring they remain six points clear of Rangers. The win over Killie was also important as it came on the back of two games without a win. Striker Stevie May ended a run of eight games without a goal by bagging a double and will be raring to go ahead of the visit to Ibrox.

There is plenty of bad blood between these two clubs and that rivalry has only heightened in recent seasons. How that Celtic are seemingly so far ahead of both, it leaves this as one of the main clashes in Scottish football, and that battle for second place. Rangers simply have to get something from these next two games or face a realistic risk of missing out on second spot once again. It would be a real failure on the part of the board who made a complete mess by appointing Caixhina in the first instance.

These next two games in particular will take on even more significance as Aberdeen manager Derek McInnes has long been linked as Rangers next manager but as the days and weeks pass, that seems less and less likely. Both he and his players can show why many believe he is the perfect candidate to get the Ibrox club moving again by inflicting their third straight defeat on them.
