Rapid Vienna finished runners-up in Group G behind group winners Villarreal by goal difference during the group stages of the competition and remained unbeaten at home with wins gained over Spartak Moscow and Rangers along with a draw against Villarreal.
However, having lost two of their three away matches during the group phase, the hosts will be keen to take a lead with them into the second leg in Milan no doubt. Rapid Vienna are unbeaten in their last eight matches at home in the Europa League which should set them up with confidence in giving a good account of themselves in this first leg.

Nevertheless, Inter Milan should be considered to be among one of the favourites to lift the Europa League trophy as they start their campaign in this competition with a first leg clash in Vienna on Thursday night.
Inter Milan also remained unbeaten at home during the group stages with a 2-1 win over Tottenham and very creditable draws with Barcelona and PSV, but it was their results away from home which let them down; they started brightly enough with a 2-1 win at PSV but then two defeats on the trot at Barcelona and Tottenham did for them.
