Match day six in the Champions League continues on Wednesday night, and qualification from Group G will go down to the wire in a straight tussle between RB Leipzig and Porto to see who joins group winners, Besiktas, into the knock-out rounds.
Leipzig hold home advantage at their Red Bull Arena when they play host to Turkish club, Besiktas, knowing that nothing less than a win tonight would see them favourites to end up in third spot and enter the Europa League.
Leipzig remain unbeaten at home so far in the group as they drew 1-1 with Monaco and then secured a valuable 3-2 win over Porto, so they’ll be going all out for the three points this evening. Forward, Werner (7 goals) is Leipzig’s leading goalscorer, but the hosts may be forced into fielding a different partnership in central defence due to injury to defender Orban.
Visitors Besiktas have already won Group G ahead of match day six as the Turkish club have enjoyed a very successful Champions League campaign to date which has seen them remain unbeaten in the group.
With 11 points to their name, Besiktas can’t be caught following wins over Porto, Leipzig and Monaco, as well as winning both of their away matches to date, scoring 5 goals in the process. Their away record in the group reads a strong 2-0-0 5/2, but there’s a betting opportunity in this fixture.
Besiktas have conceded in both of their away matches, while Leipzig must win this final match to stand a chance of progressing to the next phase.
