READING v SHEFFIELD UNITED

Saturday 8th December 2018 – Kickoff: 1730hrs

Football – England – Championship Betting Tips

The evening kick-off in the Championship features a televised clash between Reading and Sheffield United as the betting tips continue at the Madejski Stadium.

Reading find themselves precariously perched just above the relegation zone, courtesy of a three-goal superior goal difference ahead of third from bottom Millwall which has saved them so far of slipping into the bottom three.

The hosts face a tough task of getting anything out of this encounter as visitors, Sheffield United currently occupy 6th place and will no doubt be keen to consolidate their play-off position with all three points on Saturday evening.

Reading have tightened up though in recent weeks under manager Paul Clement as they’ve suffered just one defeat from their last five matches which was an understandable loss away at high-flying Leeds United, but a 3-2 home win over Bristol City along with points picked up in draws against Ipswich Town, Wigan Athletic and Stoke city will give them a boost for this clash.

The Royals’ home record stands at a disappointing  3-2-5 16/15 with 7 of the 10 home matches resulting in both teams scoring. Midfielder Meite (6 goals) along with forwards Baldock (4 goals) and Bodvarsson (7 goals) have provided the bulk of Reading’s goals to date.

Sheffield United still occupy the last remaining play-off place ahead of their long trip down to Berkshire to face Reading despite winning just one of their last five matches, or if you prefer, two of their last eight matches overall.

Chris Wilder’s side have looked promising and indeed dangerous going forward with wins over Wigan Athletic and Brentford, but lapses of concentration have cost them dearly, especially in the recent defeats to Nottingham Forest and Leeds United.

The Blades tend not to bother with grinding out points on the road with 0-0 scorelines, rather, Wilder’s side just goes for it and are very capable of scoring on the break. They possess an way record of  5-1-4  16/14 which underlines their style of play, but they also leave themselves open at the back.

5 out of 10 away matches have resulted in both teams scoring in Sheffield United’s away matches so far this season, and with neither side in particularly good form, the betting tips suggest backing both to score here.
