Reading Preview – Royals to secure third straight home win?
Reading are clinging on to the final play-off spot at present, two points clear of seventh. After the midweek results, the Royals dropped a position, being replaced in fifth by in-form Barnsley. Nevertheless, Veljko Paunovic’s men have done a superb job to keep themselves in the top six all season.
Reading were disappointedly beaten by Birmingham at St Andrew’s Trillion Trophy Stadium in midweek. Under new boss Lee Bowyer, who took over from Aitor Karanka, Birmingham picked up a 2-1 win on home turf. Prior to that, Reading had taken ten points from a possible 12.
After three home defeats on the spin, Reading have won two in a row at home without conceding. In their previous home fixture, goals from Michael Olise, Lucas Joao and Andy Yiadom helped the Berkshire club to an easy 3-0 home triumph over struggling Sheffield Wednesday. Can they claim another home victory this weekend?
Queens Park Rangers Preview – Can the R’s make it four wins in five?
Since the turn of the year, Queens Park Rangers have been one of the form teams in the Championship. Mark Warburton’s men have played 15 league games in 2021, winning nine, drawing one and losing four.
After a somewhat surprising 1-0 home loss to Huddersfield Town last weekend, QPR struck back with a big three points at the Kiyan Prince Foundation Stadium in midweek. They were 2-0 down to Millwall at half time, but second-half strikes from Charlie Austin, Stefan Johansen and Jordy de Wijs turned the game on its head to give Rangers a stunning 3-2 victory.

QPR have also been excellent on their travels of late, winning four of the last six. The London club have suffered just one away defeat since a 2-0 loss at Huddersfield on 5th December.
Reading vs Queens Park Rangers Betting Advice
Reading edged a tight and tense affair when these two went head-to-head at the Kiyan Prince Foundation Stadium on 12th December. The game looked to be heading for a goalless draw, but young Michael Olise had other ideas, netting an 89th-minute winner in the capital.
Key Facts – Reading vs Queens Park Rangers Betting Tip
- Reading are unbeaten in four against QPR (two wins, two draws)
- Rangers have suffered just one away defeat since early December
- Before the midweek loss, the Royals had taken ten points from four games
After losing fifth place to Barnsley after the midweek results, Paunovic’s boys will be looking for maximum points from this home fixture. However, Warburton’s Rangers have been a tough nut to crack in 2021, and three points for the visitors will put them to within nine points of Reading.
We can see these two cancelling each other out at the Madejski. There is excellent value in the draw and both teams to score at 15/4.
Charlie Austin has netted six Championship goals since returning to Queens Park Rangers on loan from West Bromwich Albion. Austin is available at 11/5 to score anytime in this one.
