Real Madrid Prediction – Can Real Madrid bounce back?

Just when we thought Real Madrid were starting to make progress again in Zinedine Zidane’s second tenure at the Spanish outfit, they were handed a heavy 3-0 defeat away at French champions, PSG, on Matchday 1, so they’ll be desperate to bounce back on Tuesday night against Belgian side, Club Brugge.

Real Madrid currently sit top of the domestic top flight La Liga and still remain unbeaten so far in the Spanish top flight, but recent performances in the Champions League have left a lot to be desired as the hosts have lost 3 of their last 4 Champions League ties overall.

Last season’s losses to CSKA Moscow 3-0 and a heavy defeat to surprise package, Ajax, 4-1, were bad defeats by Real Madrid’s previous lofty standards, and although they registered a 2-1 win away at Ajax, they were blown away at home in the return leg.

Zidane will no doubt be hoping he can rekindle the sort of form that Real Madrid displayed under him in his first stint at the club, but it may be best to avoid the straight win markets here. Instead, the goals markets appeal here with 8 of Real Madrid’s last 10 home ties resulting in both teams scoring.

Club Brugge Prediction – Can Club Brugge exploit their Spanish hosts?

Club Brugge bring an impressive 17-match unbeaten sequence into this clash in Madrid and the Belgian side must fancy their chances of springing a surprise against a Real Madrid outfit whose shortfalls were cruelly exposed by PSG on Matchday 1.

The Belgian visitors opened their Group A account on Matchday 1 of the Champions League with a point against Turkish side, Galatasaray, in a 0-0 draw which extended Club Brugge’s unbeaten run in the competition to 9 matches overall.

Club Brugge are also unbeaten in their last 4 ties away from home in the Champions League with wins at Monaco 4-0 and a 1-0 win at LASK Linz along with draws at Borussia Dortmund and Dynamo Kiev in 0-0 and 3-3 draws respectively.

Given Real Madrid’s defensive frailties at the moment, this could be the best time for Club Brugge to visit Madrid and get something out of this intriguing fixture, and the likes of forwards Okereke and Diatta (4 goals apiece) could make life difficult for the hosts in this one.
