There’s just the one game in the American MLS on Friday night, but hosts Real Salt Lake have reason to be confident of taking something from their clash with high-flying Orlando City when the two teams meet at their Rio Tinto Stadium.
Despite sitting second from bottom in the Western Conference, Real Salt Lake have shown some impressive run of form on home turf as they’ve collected three league wins on the trot on home soil with victories chalked up against the likes of New York City, Philadelphia Union and Minnesota United.
Real Salt Lake possess an overall home record of 4-1-3 9/9 but their form has lifted in front of their home fans in recent times, and with forward Movsisyan (5 goals) leading the line, they stand a chance of at least a point here.
Visitors Orlando City sit in fourth place in the Eastern Conference but are way off the pace of the top two teams, Toronto and Chicago Fire, as they find themselves eight points adrift of the latter ahead of their trip to Real Salt ake.
Orlando’s lofty position in the Conference and indeed their current Final Series play-off position is largely thanks to their solid form at their Camping World Stadium in Florida where they’ve lost just once all season, and registered six league wins to date.
But on the road, Orlando have often been found wanting as they’ve gained just the one win on their travels in this campaign which was a 2-1 win at New York City, but this was way back in April. Since that rare win on the road, Orlando have slumped to six matches without a win away from home.
