This is a big clash in the top half of the draw for the Masters Darts 2020 on Friday night. It is the opening night of the action in Milton Keynes. Fourth-seed Rob Cross will be squaring off against Adrian Lewis in what is a tough draw for both.

Can Cross make Masters progress?
Former World Champion Rob Cross had a day to forget last year in the opening round of the Masters. He crashed out in that opening round against Joe Cullen. Cross had been second seed with a tremendous amount of pressure on him.
His still went on to have a very good year though, claiming two ranking titles and losing two others. He closed out 2019 ranked second in the world. This will be just the third time for Cross in the Masters. He does at least have a good head to head going against Lewis.
Five times these two have met before and Cross leads 4-1. Cross has won each of the last three meetings and totally took Lewis apart in the last meeting. That was at the 2018 PDC European Darts Open with Cross stomping to a 6-1 success. The only win for Lewis over Voltage happened at the 2017 World Matchplay.
Can Lewis can an upset?
Lewis is ranked 13th for the Masters and like Cross, he had a first round exit last year’s edition. But he does have a fairly decent track record at the event overall, having been a losing finalist in 2013 (on his debut) and then two semi-final exits since then. But that does need to be pushed aside for current form.

Lewis has made it to the quarter final in just one ranking tournament since the middle of 2017. He is not turning up as a major threat in events. He ran to the fourth round of the World Championships at the end of last year and hit the quarters of the Grand Slam of Darts in November. But still, he looks a long way short of title-winning form.
