Rochdale Prediction

Rochdale are just two league positions but one point above the relegation zone as they prepare for the visit of bottom club AFC Wimbledon who are fighting for their League One lives, with the hosts having managed just one win from their last eight matches overall in the third tier.

That win came in the shape of a 2-1 win away at Walsall, but six defeats within this eight match sequence suggests that Rochdale are by no means guaranteed of the points in this encounter despite holding supposed home advantage.

Dale are also without a win from their last four matches at home which includes losing three of their last four with defeats to Bradford City 4-0, Burton Albion 4-0 and a 1-0 defeat to Coventry City, and have gained just one point from these last four with a 1-1 draw with Fleetwood Town.

A home record of 4-3-9 14/29 doesn’t fill one with much confidence in addition to just one win from their last six which was a 2-1 win over Blackpool, along with possessing the joint second worst defensive record at home behind only to Gillingham (31 goals conceded) so far this season in League One.

Key-Facts – Rochdale v AFC Wimbledon

  • Rochdale have lost 6 of their last 8n matches overall in League One
  • Rochdale have lost 3 of their last 4 at home
  • Wimbledon’s away record is better than at home to date

AFC Wimbledon Prediction

Although AFC Wimbledon still remain bottom of League One there’s the slight suggestion of a possible escape act under new manager and former player, Wally Downes, who was part of the original ‘Crazy Gang’, as he’s masterminded recent wins over Premier League West Ham in the 4th round of the FA Cup as well as a 1-0 win away at Walsall last time out in the league.

The Wombles narrowly lost to Championship side Millwall in the 5th round of the FA Cup on the weekend so their cup run has come to an end, but it’s now back to the business of trying to avoid relegation from League One.

The win at Walsall ended a dismal run of four defeats on the trot to Barnsley, Fleetwood Town, Sunderland and Burton Albion in what was a particularly difficult set of fixtures with all the four teams mentioned sitting in the top half of the division.

Strangely, Wimbledon have performed better away from their Cherry Red Records Fans’ Stadium where they’ve won just three of their seven league wins to date while their away record stands at 4-2-10 9/20.

Betting Tips Verdict

Rochdale are teetering and AFC Wimbledon may well fancy their chances of getting something from this clash.
