Romania Prediction – Can Romania continue challenge?

Just 3 points separate the 2nd, 3rd and 4th placed teams in Group F behind clear leaders, Spain, as we head into these important fixtures on Sunday with Romania looking to cash in on the visit of Malta at their Arena Naţională this evening.

After the first 5 matches of the group campaign, Romania sit in 4th place and have collected 7 points but this could soon be turning into double figures as they entertain 5th placed Malta who have lost 4 of their 5 group matches to date.

Romania have lost 2 matches so far in their Euro 2020 campaign which were losses to Sweden away from home and a home defeat to Spain but in-between, the hosts have recorded emphatic wins over the Faroe Islands 4-1 and a resounding 4-0 win away at tonight’s opponents, Malta.

Sunday evening’s hosts will therefore be in confident mood in taking all three points here, and having lost just 1 of their last 20 Euro qualifiers on home soil, the points look set to be in Romania’s back pocket by the end of the 90 minutes here.

Malta Prediction – Can Norway overtake Sweden into 2nd place?

Malta sit in 5th place in this 6-nation Group F and have the Faroe Islands to thank that they’re not bottom of the group by virtue of beating the Islanders 2-1 in their opening match of their Group F campaign.

However, this is where Malta’s promising start ended as the visitors have since slumped to 4 defeats on the trot with defeats to Spain 2-0, Sweden 3-0, Romania 4-0 and a 2-0 loss to Norway, meaning that Malta have scored just 2 goals but have conceded a total of 12 goals in reply.

There appears to be little to play for but pride now for Malta who are battling it out with the Faroe Islands to avoid the wooden spoon, but having lost 15 of their last 16 away matches in Euro qualifiers, there’s still work for Malta to do to remain in 5th spot I fancy.

This woeful 16-match away sequence has resulted in Malta failing to score in 13 of these 16 matches which is an atrocious record indeed, and one that’s likely to be exploited by Romania this Sunday evening as the hosts look to stay in contention for a top two finish.

Key-Facts – Romania v Malta

  • Romania have lost just 1 of their last 20 Euro qualifiers at home
  • Malta have lost 15 of their last 16 Euro qualifiers away from home
  • In the only previous encounter between these two teams, Romania won 4-0

Betting Tips Verdict

This looks a fairly open-and-shut case with Romania set to grab the points, and the goals threshold should also be beaten too.
