Last season was Rosenborg’s worst in the last 10 years with the club finishing in fourth spot. You have to go all the way back to 2008 for the last time they finished lower (fifth on that occasion). Winters are hard at the best of times in Norway but it would have been a long, suffering few months ahead of the new campaign starting again. It’s the first full season in charge for their former boss Age Hareide.
Most recently in charge of the Danish national team, Hareide has a wealth of experience and has overseen success elsewhere. He led Rosenborg to second place back in 2003 and will ultimately be hoping to go one better.
Stabaek Preview – Will Stabaek maintain their unbeaten start to the campaign as they look for a first away win of the season?
Jan Jonsson will celebrate two years in charge of Stabaek next month with the club having finished eighth in the last two seasons. Just three games into this campaign it’s been a solid enough start as they remain unbeaten with one win and a couple of draws. An obvious objective for Jonsson and his players will be to finish higher than eighth but he may see a European finish as a realistic possibility.
Stabaek got their first win of the season on Thursday when seeing off Brann 2-0 at home. That followed a goalless draw away to Haugseund having started the campaign with an entertaining home draw against Odd.

If Stabaek are to challenge for a European finish this time around then they are going to have to turn some of their draws into victories. They drew 12 of their 30 matches last season and that is the obvious area for improvement. In order to do that they’ll have to be more dynamic in attack. A tally of 41 goals was the lowest of any side in the top half, nine fewer than the next team.
Their top scorer last season was Oliver Edvardsen who got six in the league all season. He’s yet to get off the mark for this campaign.
