Ross County finally got the monkey off their back last week with a first win but remain bottom as they welcome a Hibs team who will be without a whole host of their first team players for this one.

Ross County Preview – Can County build on excellent win last time out as they look to stay close to relegation rivals?

It took 11 games but Ross County finally won their first game of the Premiership and they done it in some style. Malky McKay’s men defeated Dundee 5-0 at Dens Park and in all honesty, it was a win that was coming. Performances have been improving but County had managed to find ways to shoot themselves in the foot, particularly in recent defeats against Livingston and St Mirren where they have lost both 3-2 at home.

McKay knows that his team will have to build on that now, however, as they continue to prop up the rest of the table. County are four points from safety although they do have this as their game in hand.

Key to the victory over Dundee and arguably Ross County’s most impressive performer of the season as a whole is on-loan Arsenal player Harry Clarke. He scored a wonder goal in the romp last week as well as assisting another. Clarke, Blair Spittal and Regan Charles-Cook are responsible for 10 of County’s 15 goals in the league. It indicates how influential this trio are.

Whilst the margin of victory was the most remarkable aspect of the win over Dundee, keeping a clean sheet was another big accomplishment. It was their first since the opening day of the season.

Hibernian Preview – Will Hibs overcome their own adversity as they look to halt a four game losing run?

The start of October seen Hibs in with a chance of going top of the table and the end of the month sees them sitting in fifth spot and on a run of four straight losses. To add to that frustration, the weekend’s game was called off due to an outbreak of Covid which will see Jack Ross without a host of first team players for this rescheduled date.

Who is missing remains to be see but it’s been apparent for some time that outside of their best 12 or 13 players there is very little strength in depth.

Hibs’ last game was virtually over after half an hour as they were 3-0 down at home to Celtic. They did rally somewhat but could only manage a consolation goal and have now won just one of their last seven in the league. Regardless of the result here they will remain in fifth place but a win would put them within a point of Dundee United and rivals Hearts.

Two goals in their last four games is further evidence of the impact that Christian Doidge has on this team. He’s played only two league games all season but is due making a comeback soon.

Ross County vs Hibernian Betting Advice

Ross County would have been extremely annoyed with the late cancellation of Saturday’s game.win. Coming off the back of a win the previous midweek would have seen confidence high and them looking to build on it. They will still be hopeful of being able to take advantage of their opponents’ misfortune and the absence of key first team players.

Whilst clean sheets have been hard to come by for both teams of late, recent meetings between the two have seen one team preventing the other scoring in four of the last five.

Key Facts – Ross County vs Hibernian Betting Tip

  • Ross County recorded their first league win of the season when defeating Dundee 5-0 away from home
  • Hibs went through the whole of October without picking up a point in the Scottish Premiership
  • Both teams have scored in just one of the last five meetings between the sides

As such, and with the uncertainty over who makes the visitor’s staring eleven, I’m happy side with both teams not scoring in this encounter.
