Next up is a bottom of the table clash in the Championship with Rotherham United taking on Reading as the betting tips continue at the New York Stadium.

Rotherham United

Rotherham United currently occupy 20th place in the second tier but hold a useful three point cushion over the bottom three and more importantly, Reading, as they prepare for this early but important relegation battle.

The hosts have been in stubborn form of late as they’ve suffered just one defeat from their last nine matches overall, a run that includes just the one win – a 2-1 home win over Swansea City, but also includes a number of draws; no fewer than 7 in fact.

The good news for Rotherham is that they’re also unbeaten in their last eight at home with a solid record of 4-5-1 14/11 which is a vast improvement upon their previous season in the Championship, and under manager Paul Warne, they’re a much tougher prospect now.

Midfielders Manning (4 goals), Towell and Vaulks (3 goals apiece) along with forward Smith (4 goals) have scored the bulk of the goals for the hosts so far this season.

Reading

A change of manager hasn’t changed Reading’s fortunes yet as new boss Scott Marshall got off to a losing start in his tenure at the helm of The Royals with his side losing 2-0 at home to play-off candidates Sheffield United last weekend.

Marshall replaced the sacked former boss Paul Clement after a poor start to the season which has left the Berkshire outfit in the bottom three of the Championship with relegation a very real and distinct possibility.

The loss to Sheffield United extended Reading’s winless run to five league matches with a previous defeat to Leeds United and indeed, the visitors have won just twice in their last 12 matches overall.

These rare wins were against Millwall and Bristol City but were both recorded at the Madejski Stadium while their away record reads a poor 1-4-5 10/17. Reading have lost four of their last five away matches, so confidence will be fragile for their trip to Rotherham.

Rotherham United v Reading – Betting Tips Verdict

Rotherham seem the more settled camp right now and are working hard for manager Paul Warne, while Marshall has his work cut out to get Reading out of the bottom three.
