Rotherham United Prediction

Although Rotherham occupy one of the relegation places, the hosts are unbeaten in their last three matches in the Championship having drawn with Millwall, Wigan Athletic and Hull City in 0-0, 1-1 and 2-2 draws respectively.

However, the fact remains that Rotherham have managed just one win from their last 16 matches overall in the second tier which was a 2-1 home win over Preston North End back in early January but since then The Milers have struggled to stay afloat.

With a reasonable home record of 5-7-4 21/24 though, Rotherham’s best chances of Championship survival appear to be their form at the New York Stadium where they’ve won five of their six league wins so far this season.

A single win from their last eight matches on home turf though doesn’t promote confidence, but 11 matches out of a total of 16 with both teams scoring is definitely of interest. Midfielder Vaulks (5 goals) and forward Smith (5 goals) look the most likely to score for The Millers.

Key-Facts – Rotherham United v Sheffield Wednesday

  • 11 of Rotherham’s 16 home matches have seen both teams score
  • Sheffield Wednesday have lost just 1 of their last 9 matches overall
  • Sheffield Wednesday have lost 1 of their last 5 away matches

Sheffield Wednesday Prediction

New Sheffield Wednesday boss, Steve Bruce, will no doubt be keen for his side to not only collect their first win under his regime when they make the relatively short trip to Rotherham for this early kick-off on Saturday, but also score their first goal on his watch too.

Following the arrival of Bruce, The Owls have drawn back-to-back matches 0-0 with both Reading and Millwall, so perhaps we’re due a goal in this match. The visitors currently sit in 16th place in the Championship and have suffered just one defeat from their last nine matches, so they won’t be without confidence ahead of this local derby.

The Owls have also lost just once in their last five matches on the road too which was a heavy 3-0 loss at Hull City, but recent wins at Middlesbrough and Ipswich Town should give them confidence of walking away with at least a point at Rotherham this Saturday.

Betting Tips Verdict

Reading’s win over Blackburn Rovers during the week dumped Rotherham into the bottom three so the hosts will be desperate to lift themselves out of the relegation zone as soon as possible. Sheffield Wednesday will also fancy their chances of claiming their first win for new manager Bruce today too. We should see both teams score here as a result.
