While Honka will be busy trying to reduce the points deficit from five to just two, second placed Rovaniemi will be seeking to avenge defeat in their previous match to tonight’s visitors, SJK, when the two teams clash at the Rovaniemen Keskuskenttä.
Rovaniemi will be keen to put further daylight between themselves and third placed Honka, while a 2-1 defeat away at SJK ten days ago should be added incentive for Saturday evening’s hosts to chalk up another win here.
Rovaniemi have suffered just one defeat from their last seven matches, and this run includes recent wins over VPS, Mariehamn, PS Kemi and Ilves, while their home record stands at a reasonable looking 6-1-2 14/4, with the second best defensive record at home in the Veikkausliiga. Midfielder Lingman (5 goals) and forward Ivanovski (6 goals) are the main threats in front of goal for the hosts.
Onto SJK, and they currently reside in the lower reaches of the Finnish top flight in 9th place with just five league wins to their name so far this season (compared to 10 by Rovaniemi). The break down sees SJK having registered four of these five victories at their OmaSP Stadion, but away from home, they’ve been decidedly lacklustre.
Following their first away win of the season at TPS Turku, the visitors have since slumped to eight matches without a win on their travels, compiling a disappointing away record of 1-3-5 6/14 in the process, and failing to score in 4 of their 9 away matches to date.
SJK will come up against a solid defensive unit in the shape of Rovaniemi on Saturday evening, and having problems in front of goal could end badly for the visitors.
There’s still an outside chance of a draw here though, so I advise backing Rovaniemi with the draw no bet option.
