Russia Prediction – Can Russia consolidate 2nd place?
Despite being on the end of a heavy 3-1 loss away from home in their Group I opener away at Belgium, Russia have since bounced back in triumphant fashion by recording 4 wins on the trot which has strengthened Monday night’s hosts 2nd place spot.
Wins over Kazakhstan 4-0 away, 9-0 at home against San Marino, 1-0 against Cyprus and the weekend 2-1 win away at Scotland has placed Russia in 2nd place behind Group I leaders, Belgium and given the hosts a useful 5-point cushion over 3rd placed Kazakhstan who are Russia’s Monday night’s opponents.
Therefore, all 3 points with a win on Monday night for Russia would virtually seal their qualification for Euro 2020 and would give the hosts a third win on the trot on home turf, and having won 8 of their last 9 Euro qualifiers, Russia look well set to achieve just that.
In addition, Russia have won their last 4 Euro qualifiers on the trot at home while their record against Kazakhstan is a favourable one as the hosts have won 2 of the 3 previous encounters. Striker Dzyuba (6 goals) and midfielder Cheryshev (3 goals) are Russia’s major goal threats.
Kazakhstan Prediction – Can Kazakhstan close gap?
It’s been a mixed bag of results for 3rd placed Kazakhstan so far in their Group I campaign as the visitors sit 5 points adrift of Monday night’s hosts, Russia, with everything on the line in this clash at Moscow which could go a long way to deciding who joins Belgium to Euro 2020.
Kazakhstan began their campaign in positive fashion by recording a convincing 3-0 home win against Scotland, but they then suffered heavy back-to-back defeats of their own when they lost 4-0 at home to Russia and then a 3-0 loss away at Belgium.
The visitors have since steadied the ship with a 4-0 romp at home over hapless San Marino and a solid point away from home in a 1-1 draw away at Cyprus to keep their dwindling hopes alive of achieving a top two finish, but defeat in Moscow would surely put an end to that.
Kazakhstan have achieved just 1 win out of their last 13 Euro qualifiers away from home, so the odds seem firmly stacked against the visitors from grabbing all 3 points in what could be a decisive encounter.
Key-Facts – Russia v Kazakhstan

Betting Tips Verdict
