This is a top-five clash in the Premiership for Monday with both teams looking for a win that would help cement their position for a top-four finish.

Sale have been steaming along in brilliant form since the restart and are currently sitting in second place.

Bath meanwhile are just on the cusp of the top-four and will be looking for any kind of points from this difficult away game.

Sale Sharks Preview – Sale looking strong

It has been a four-match winning streak from Sale in the Premiership after a 24-17 win over Saracens last weekend.

They have just been flying and have tallied 104 points in total in their last three league fixtures.

Sale have taken back to back wins at the AJ Bell Stadium since losing to Exeter there on August 22nd.

The bookmakers are seeing them as having little problem picking up the win in his fixture as they are the 1/3 odds-on favourites in the match outright* (odds taken 2000 GMT, Wednesday 8 January).

It is a W12 L7 record that Sale are currently on in the Premiership season and they just look a very solid outfit at the moment.

Our betting prediction:
Sale 1-12 winning margin
15/8

Earlier this season they did take a tumble at the Rec against Bath, but that was only by a 2-point margin.

Each of the last four games between the two teams have been really tight, including a draw at bath in 2018.

Sale are W2 D1 L2 in their last five fixtures against Bath and this is just an intriguing fixture, which the Sharks will probably throw the kitchen sink at.

Their confidence should be sky-high as in their last four games they have beaten Wasps and Bristol, who are top-four contenders, as well as Saracens in midweek.

Bath Preview – Can Bath cause an upset at the AJ Bell?

Even a bonus point in defeat out of this one could be precious to Bath as they look to make up ground on the top four.

After the midweek round of action, Bath were left one point outside of those top four spots.

So there is still everything to play for in a tight race, with just three games to play.

Fifth-placed Bath would draw level on points with Sale if they were to collect a four-point win on Sunday.

Bath have won their last two games and four of their last five, so they do have some form going there.

In midweek they romped to a 40-16 home win at the Rec against the struggling Wrocetser and this is where we need to take a closer look at things.

While the form of Bath reads very well, they have faced some of the softer opposition in their latest run of games.

In their W4 L1 record in their last five, the wins were against Leicester, Northampton, Harlequins and Worcester, all teams out of form.

In the one big test that they had against Wasps at the end of August, Bath lost at home.

Bath are the 12/5 underdogs in the match outright for this game* (odds taken 2000 GMT, Wednesday 8 January).

But the big question about their challenge on Sunday, is how close they can stay to Sale? Can they get back to the Rec with a losing bonus point at the very least?

Sale Sharks vs Bath Betting Advice

This should be a great game, but the Sharks on home turf at the AJ Bell are just too irresistible to pass on.

A Sharks -8 handicap at 10/11 is a very reasonable option here for rugby betting* (odds taken 2000 GMT, Wednesday 8 January).

Slave have suffered just two losses in their last nine games and only twice at home this season, one of those defeats happening against leaders Exeter.

Key Facts – Sale Sharks vs Bath Betting Tip

  • Sale Sharks have lost only 2 of their last 9 league games
  • Sale Sharks have been beaten twice at home this season only
  • Bath are W4 L1 in their last five fixture

Bath have seen off some weaker opposition in their recent matches, and while they have lost just one of their last six, we couldn’t back them here.

They do have a bit of head to head form going over Sale, but under the current conditions, this is a tough trip to Salford.

Sale will be looking to do themselves a favour and pretty much lock down a top four finish with a victory.
