Sampdoria are sitting lower in the table than they would have liked at the halfway stage but they do still have a comfortable cushion over the bottom three, despite only being 15th. They are already six points adrift of fourth bottom Spezia and have to find improvement fast if they are to remain in touch over the coming weeks.

The Brazillian scored two of his nine Serie A goals in that victory and has been the shining light of an otherwise brutal campaign.
