Sarries strong enough to deliver

The campaign got off to a rough start for reigning European Champions Saracens, falling to a heavy 30-10 loss at the Paris La Defense Arena back in November. They lost their second away game of the campaign too, going down on a trip to Muster 10-3.

But their home form has been there, thumping Ospreys (who they also beat out on the road last weekend) and earning revenge over Munster. They have that home character do Saracens, who are totally backable at the Allianz Arena to come up with the victory on the weekend.

The situation is actually positive for them. Racing 92 may not be all that focused or interested in this, as they will finish top of the pool regardless. The scoring output of Saracens in terms of tries in the pool has been nowhere near that of Racing 92’s. Sarries have crossed 10 times, the French side 23.

Key-Facts – Saracens vs Racing 92

  • A win will guarantee Saracens qualification for the next stage
  • Racing 92 have already won the group
  • The French side have gone undefeated in the pool

Racing 92 will get their chances

The French side are such a good attacking team. Their metres gained and try counts for the Pool so far are magnificent. The fact that they have made considerably fewer tackles than Saracens have done, shows that they take a lot of possessions.

It is a W4 D1 record that Racing 92 have taken. Those wins, plus four-try bonus points have left them top of the table. The only game that they failed to win was their tied fixture at Munster back in November. It was a fantastic match at Thomond Park.

In their other away game played, Racing took a resounding win at Ospreys. Winger Teddy Thomas is the joint top try-scorer in this season’s pool stage. He has touched down six times in just four appearances. Racing 92 have lost 16 of their 32 away games in the Heineken Cup.

Saracens v Racing 92 Prediction and tip

Saracens can win that they need to move ahead to the next round of action. They are a formidable force at the Allianz where they have won 42 of 52 home fixtures in this competition.

Racing 92 aren’t going to care too much about what happens in this one. But they are adventurous enough to still come up with a couple of tries, so this should be a high-scoring fixture.

A winning margin of 1-7 points for Saracens, who haven’t quite been at their attacking best so far in this campaign, is a decent option to consider for a little extra value at 19/5* (betting odds taken from bet365 on January 16th, 2020 at 1:18 pm)
