Scotland Prediction – Can Scotland win three on trot?

Scotland’s campaign in these Euro 2020 qualifiers has been fragmented to say the least as Steve Clarke’s side look to end their matches in Group I on a winning note when they play host to 5th placed Kazakhstan at Hampden Park on Tuesday night.

Home and away wins against both San Marino and Cyprus at either ends of this campaign haven’t been enough and has resulted in Scotland looking likely to finish in 3rd place behind the runaway top two nations in the group, Belgium and Russia, who have both already qualified for next year’s European Championships.

Scotland beat San Marino 2-0 and 6-0 as well as Cyprus 2-1 and 2-1 respectively while their opening match in Group I ended in a heavy 3-0 loss at tonight’s opponents, Kazakhstan, so I daresay the Scots will be keen to avenge that defeat in order to achieve a 3rd place finish.

Scotland are assured of a play-off semi-final but will be desperate to take winning momentum into this with the prospect of facing either Norway or Serbia for a place at Euro 2020, by securing a third win on the trot with victory against Kazakhstan.

Kazakhstan Prediction – Can Kazakhstan spoil the party?

There appears to be very little to play for for visitors Kazakhstan as they prepare for their trip to face Scotland in the noisy atmosphere of Hampden Park, having collected just 3 wins throughout their Euro 2020 qualifying campaign.

Although Kazakhstan trail Scotland by just a 2-point margin, even if they do beat Scotland they won’t progress any further as Scotland won Group 1 in League C of the Nations League while Kazakhstan finished poor runners-up to Group 1 winners, Georgia, in League D.

Kazakhstan’s away record currently stands at an average looking 1-1-2 4/6 while the bigger picture shows that the visitors have picked up just 2 wins out of their last 15 away matches in Euro qualifiers.

Having lost 11 of these last 15 Euro qualifiers on the road, it seems unlikely that Kazakhstan will trouble Scotland here, despite running out comfortable 3-0 winners in the first ever meeting against Scotland in the opening match of the group phase.

Key-Facts – Scotland vs Kazakhstan

  • Scotland have won their last 2 matches on the trot in Group I
  • Kazakhstan have won just 2 of their last 15 Euro qualifiers away from home
  • Kazakhstan have lost 11 of these last 15 matches away from home too

Betting Tips Verdict

Scotland with home advantage and a raucous crowd behind them should avenge Kazakhstan’s earlier victory.
