Scotland – Will Scotland prolong their winning run with a seventh straight success?
It might have been five months since Scotland last played but there is no getting away from how good Steve Clarke’s men have been of late. Since been well beaten by Denmark in Copenhagen back in September (coming on the back of failing to win any of their matches at Euro 2020), the Scots have reeled off six straight wins. That was enough to seal second place behind the Danes and book a place in the World Cup playoffs.
The horrendous situation in Ukraine just now means the semi-final has been pushed back to June when it is hoped both that game and the final against either Wales or Russia can take place with one of those four nations reaching Qatar 2022.
Poland Preview – Can Poland head into a huge playoff final on the back of a morale-boosting victory?
Poland were also due to be in playoff action this week, travelling to face Russia. Again, due to that nation’s invasion of their neighbours, the Russians have been expelled from UEFA and FIFA competitions indefinitely which means Poland go straight to the final against one of Sweden or Czech Republic who do go head to head as planned.
Poland reached the playoffs following a second place finish behind England in qualification, led by the goals of Robert Lewandowski who hit eight for his country and is already on 45 goals for club side Bayern Munich. He may not feature in this game but will be leading the line next Tuesday.

If Lewandowski is not selected for this one then it provides an opportunity for one of (or both) Arkadiusz Milik and Krzysztof Piatek of Marseille and Fiorentina respectively. The duo have been in good form for their clubs of late but have never really done it at international level when given the chance.
Scotland vs Poland Betting Advice
The reasons as to why these two are taking each other on rather than play the matches originally scheduled put any football game into perspective. Although it has little significance in the grand scheme of things, both managers will be looking for reasons to be optimistic as their players prepare for the competitive games to come – the visitors with the most pressing of those.
You have to go back to 2015 and qualification for the following year’s European Championships for the last time these two were drawn together. Both of those games ended in 2-2 draws. That would be perfect for the neutral if a similar outcome presents itself here.
Key Facts – Scotland vs Poland Betting Tip
- Scotland will take on Ukraine in their rearranged playoff semi-final in June
- Poland were awarded their semi-final following Russia’s dismissal from UEFA and FIFA competition
- This will be a first meeting between the nations since 2015 which ended in a 2-2 draw at Hampden
With Poland having such an important game to come next Tuesday it is likely they will look to use their squad for this game. Scotland don’t have that issue and will therefore be very keen to extend their winning run. With their impressive home record, back the hosts to get the victory here.
