It is Premiership versus Championship in the first of this weekend’s Scottish FA Cup quarter-final ties at Easter Road.

Scottish FA Cup Betting at William Hill

Hibernian Preview – Draw has been kind again to Hibs

Hibs are an a four-match unbeaten run and could progress to the semi-finals of this season’s Scottish FA Cup having yet to meet a team from the Premiership.

The Edinburgh side have drawn lower-league opposition in all three rounds of the competition in which they had to play so far but did need a replay to see of Championship leaders Dundee United in round four.

They’ve come on in leaps and bounds since appointing Jack Ross as manager and now look like cementing their place in the Premiership top six before the split.

Millionaire owner Ron Gordon has wiped out the club’s debts and invested over a million pounds of his own money since taking over the financial reins and he is promising to double the club’s budget over the next three years. A trophy this season would be a massive boost for the club but they are still not in a position to take results for granted.

Next up are Inverness CT, a recent Premiership club themselves and one seeking a quick return to the top flight.

Ross is unlikely to make too many changes form the side held by lowly Livingston last week but may try to find a starting place for Daryl Horgan with midfielders Fraser Murray and Joe Newell likely to miss out. Top scorer Christian Doidge will again lead the attack, however, while Scott Allan will attempt to make amends for last week’s penalty miss.

Inverness CT Preview – Caley Thistle welcoming cup distractions

John Robertson, so often a thorn in the side of Hibs when a player with Hearts, makes his first visit to Easter Road as a manager.

He was pleased with his side’s battling qualities as they overcame Dunfermline last week to stay second in the Championship. The league remains Caley Thistle’s priority but only a play-off place is now in reach with Dundee United out of sight in terms of automatic promotion.

James White and Aaron Doran are genuine goal threats for the visitors and the club received a boost this week when James Keating’s controversial ban for diving was wiped out. Inverness have already reached the Challenge Cup Final this season so their pedigree in sudden-death football is established and they won’t roll over easily at Easter Road.

They’ve won three of their last four in all competitions with their only defeat coming against the runaway league leaders. Only one of their last 10 matches has featured more than three goals in total.

Total Goals Exact 2-3

Predictions and Tips

There is a gulf in class between the Premiership and the Championship but it’s not as big as some would believe between the teams at the top of the second tier and mid-table sides in the top flight.

Inverness CT are a gusty outfit who will try and deny Hibs the space in which to work. The visitors are probably a decent bet at 69/20 with Marathonbet to earn a replay.
