Serbia Preview – Serbs to secure a fifth victory?
Dragan Stojkovic’s Serbia have had an excellent 2022 World Cup qualifying campaign so far. The Serbs are sitting pretty at the top of Group A, though they have played a game more than Portugal, who are just a point behind.
Serbia have won four and drawn two of their six qualifiers, seeing off Republic of Ireland in game one before drawing with Portugal a few days later. The Eagles then beat Azerbaijan and Luxembourg (twice) and have drawn 1-1 with Ireland in Dublin.
Before ending qualification with a crunch match with Portugal in Lisbon, Serbia will be looking for all three points from Tuesday’s crucial qualifier. If they win their next two, Stojkovic’s troops will be in Qatar next year.
Azerbaijan Preview – Another heavy defeat for the Azerbaijanis?
Azerbaijan have had a poor qualifying campaign, taking just one point from a possible 18. The Azerbaijanis are already eliminated and look nailed on to finish rock bottom of Group A.
Gianni De Biasi’s men have been well out of their depth in the group, losing five times and shipping 12 goals. Their one and only point came in a 1-1 draw with Ireland at the Aviva Stadium last month. Last time out, they were beaten 3-0 by the Irish in Baku.

Azerbaijan have nothing to lose and everything to gain, but a trip to the group leaders will be an arduous task for a nation that has picked up just one win in over a year. The bookies have the away victory priced at 14/1.
