Sevilla Preview – Can Sevilla upset the odds?
Sevilla started their Europa League campaign in Group A along with APOEL, Qarabag and F91 Dudelange in what was admittedly a rather weak group and the Spanish club duly obliged by finishing top of the group, winning five of their six matches and five points clear of runners-up, APOEL.
The knockout rounds saw Sevilla squeeze past Romanian outfit, CFR Cluj, courtesy of the ‘away-goal’ rule and then registered a narrow but solid 1-0 win away from home at Premier League outfit, Wolves, at Molineux, which is no mean feat against Nuno Espirito Santo’s side particularly in the west midlands.
Another Premier League scalp was picked up in the semi-finals against Manchester United as Sevilla overcame the Red Devils 2-1 to claim their place in this year’s final but they’ll be up against an in-form Inter Milan side who they’ve never played before in a competitive match.
Results away from home have been a mixed bag as Sevilla have won just five of their last 10 away ties in the Europa League.

Inter Milan finally finished up their Serie A campaign just one point behind a very disappointing Juventus outfit who, despite winning another domestic top flight title, were very underwhelming in the manner of their title win.
On the European front, Inter Milan matched their domestic intensity despite Antonio Conte’s side having dropped out of the Champions League as they finished 3rd in a group consisting of Barcelona, Borussia Dortmund and Slavia Prague, but they turned up the heat in the knockout rounds of the Europa League.
A 4-1 aggregate win over Ludogorets was followed by a solid 2-1 win over German outfit, Bayer Leverkusen which saw the Italians progress to the semi-finals where they’d be up against Ukrainian side, Shakhtar Donetsk, who had shown impressive attacking intent themselves.
Inter simply swept Shakhtar aside in a 5-0 romp with the likes of Lukaku (23 goals) and Martinez (14 goals) up front running riot as Inter claimed a sixth win on the trot in all competitions.
