Sheffield Wednesday will be keen to keep their unbeaten run going at Hillsborough on Tuesday night when they play host to struggling Brentford, and another three points for Wednesday this evening could see them break into the top six of the Championship.
The Owls secured all the points in Saturday’s evening game against Nottingham Forest with a convincing 3-1 win, and they hold an unbeaten record of 1-2-0 5/3 ahead of tonight’s clash with Brentford. Indeed, following an opening day defeat away at Preston North End, Wednesday have embarked upon a five-game unbeaten run which includes wins over Fulham and Nottingham Forest.
Draws with QPR and Sunderland along with the Forest win have got Carlos Carvalhal’s men off to a solid start at Hillsborough, but they’ll be seeking revenge for last season’s 2-1 defeat at the hands of Brentford back in February.
Onto Brentford then, and The Bees earned a solid point away at Aston Villa in a 0-0 stalemate on Saturday, but the fact remains that they’re yet to register a win in the Championship so far in this new season, having recorded three draws and three defeats.
This poor start to the season has left The Bees second from bottom in the Championship ahead of their long trip up north for Tuesday night’s clash with Sheffield Wednesday, and with a very ordinary looking away record of 0-1-2 0/3 so far, they could struggle again tonight.
Along with Preston North End and Millwall, Brentford have failed to score a goal on their travels so far in this campaign and they’ll be up against a well organised Wednesday defence here.
