Sheffield Wednesday Preview – Will the Owls seal back-to-back league wins?
Sheffield Wednesday picked up a much-needed win over Charlton Athletic in midweek. Steven Fletcher’s last-gasp goal gave the Owls a 1-0 victory, which was their first league success since coming out on top against Leeds United at Elland Road in mid-January.
Sheffield Wednesday were in the play-offs at the end of 2019, but Garry Monk and his men have had a pretty miserable 2020 so far. In fact, those victories over Leeds and Charlton are their only Championship wins since the turn of the year. The Sheffield club have sipped eight points adrift of the play-off places.
Before Wednesday’s win over the Addicks, Wednesday had taken just one point from their previous five Championship encounters at Hillsborough. Still, can they claim back-to-back home wins with three points against Derby on Saturday?
Derby County Preview – Can the Rams claim a rare victory on the road?
Derby County have been very Jekyll and Hyde in terms of their home and away form this season. Phillip Cocu’s troops have one of the best home records in the second tier, winning nine, drawing seven and losing just two of 18. Only Preston North End and Fulham have picked up more home points up until now.
Away from Pride Park, though, Derby have been pretty dreadful. Only bottom club Luton Town have accumulated fewer away points (nine) than the Rams’ 11. Derby have mustered just two away wins, losing ten and drawing five of the other 15.

In midweek, Derby lost on the road in the Championship for the tenth time, with Mark Warburton’s Queens Park Rangers securing a 2-1 win at the Kiyan Prince Foundation Stadium. Since recording a 3-2 win at Swansea City, Derby have lost two out of two on their travels, conceding five times along the way. This will be another stern test away from home for County.
Sheffield Wednesday vs Derby County Betting Advice
Things have been close between these two sides of late, with the last two meetings ending in 1-1 draws. In December, a late Chris Martin penalty cancelled out Steven Fletcher’s first-half goal at Pride Park.
