A 1-0 win away from home at Alashkert in last week’s 1st leg tie of this 2nd qualifying round clash with their Armenian opponents has not only given Sheriff a third win on the trot but also seen the hosts take a step closer to progressing to the next qualifying round.

Alashkert’s previously promising unbeaten run of five games without defeat was brought to an end after last week’s 1st leg 1-0 defeat at home to Moldovan opponents, Sheriff Tiraspol, and they now face a tough assignment of getting the better of Sheriff in their own backyard on Wednesday night.
Alashkert had posted three wins on the trot in their domestic top flight with victories over Ararat-Armenia (home and away) and Ararat, along with a narrow 3-2 win on aggregate over Welsh side, Connah’s Quay, in the 1st qualifying round of the Champions League.
