Southampton take on Leicester City at their St Mary’s Stadium and will welcome back former manager, Claude Puel and his Foxes team when the teams clash on Wednesday night.

It’s been a disappointing and largely uneventful campaign so far for Southampton who currently reside in mid-table mediocrity of 11th place having recorded just four league wins so far this season, three of which were at St Mary’s with wins over West Ham, West Brom and Everton.

But while The Saints have won just once in their last seven overall, they’ve lost just once at home in their last five matches which was a 1-0 loss to surprise package, Burnley, but the south coast side have shown their inconsistencies amidst an overall home record of  3-3-3  11/10. Southampton will take heart though from their 1-1 draw with Arsenal on Sunday.

Visitors Leicester City recorded a valuable three points away from home on Saturday evening when they inflicted a 3-2 win over Newcastle United at St James’ Park to ruin the 125-year celebrations at the club, not an easy feat in a stadium packed full of noisy Geordies!

The win at Newcastle became Leicester City’s third league win on the trot following previous wins against Tottenham and Burnley, and The Foxes now sit in 8th place on the Premier League ladder. Another win this evening could see them move to within two points of Tottenham.

Leicester started their Premier League campaign in slow fashion, but they’ve since revived their fortunes with a six match unbeaten run away from home amidst an overall record of  2-4-2  12/13, and with their attacking triumverate of Mahrez, Albrighton and Gray supporting striker Vardy up front, I’m expecting them to cause a few problems for the Saints’ defence here.
