In truth, it was Santos’s impressive results and form on home turf at their Estádio Urbano Caldeira which earned them 2nd place, but their results away from home will have to improve this time around if they’re to seriously challenge Flamengo this season.
Back-to-back defeats away from home at the end of last season at Fortaleza and Athletico PR have been joined by a 2-0 loss at Internacional at the start of this new campaign, making it three losses on the trot on their travels but their win last week will give them a boost for this clash on Thursday night.
