St Johnstone v Rangers Betting Tip both teams to score – 13 October 2017

Both teams to score the way to go in Perth

Scottish Premiership Betting Tips

Friday 13th October 2017 Kickoff:1945hrs St Johnstone v Rangers Football – Scotland – Premiership Rangers have a chance to close the gap on Celtic and Aberdeen to three points if they can win their game on Friday evening against St Johnstone, ahead of the joint leaders playing on Saturday. On the other hand, the Perth club will be looking to this game as an opportunity of their own to do likewise considering they themselves are level on points with Rangers coming into this one. With goal difference the only thing that separates these two, we are set for a closely fought encounter.

St Johnstone continue to punch above their weight season after season under Tommy Wright. They are one of the worst supported teams in the top flight in Scotland and have a budget that is more in keeping with the bottom half of the table than the top, yet they are in joint third place and looking upwards. Eight games into the season and the Saints have tasted defeat just twice – both away from home. A 3-2 reverse at Tayside rivals Dundee was the first time they lost in the league but Wright was far more disappointed with the performance of his team last time out when losing to Aberdeen 3-0. He remarked it was the worst display of his tenure and will have been counting down the days until the international break was over to try and make amends.

Considering Rangers have been the subject of much discussion and criticism – particularly in the aftermath of their 2-0 defeat to Celtic at Ibrox last month – they fact they have a chance to go within three points off the top of the table nearing the end of the first quarter of the season, is not too bad. Pedro Caixhina has not had an easy ride of it since arriving at the club in March – most of it brought on with his own strange comments – but there are definite signs that the squad and management staff are united and striving to continue what has been a decent run of form. Since losing at home to Hibs in the second weekend of the season, the game against Celtic is Rangers only other loss in the league. That period has also seen them move into the semi finals of the League Cup so there are reasons to be positive, however Friday is another test as it’s a game against a team in and around them in the table.

St Johnstone v Rangers Betting Tip

This has the makings of being an important game for both clubs and their aspirations for the season. St Johnstone were extremely disappointing in their last game against Aberdeen and know that a similar performance and defeat will see them in danger of dropping out the top six. Rangers, on the other hand, will certainly have their sights locked in on Aberdeen and Celtic with a view to taking advantage of playing their game first and cutting the gap accordingly. As the table suggests, there is likely going to be little to choose between the clubs and that’s been borne out in games the two have played out over last season. St Johnstone are strong at home and are still undefeated with three wins and a draw. They’ve also faced the other half of Glasgow – albeit away from home – and came away with a point, so the visit of Rangers is unlikely to hold any fears. Rangers are yet to taste defeat on their travels either.

The bet I really like here is for both teams to score, which has been a winner in six of St Johnstone’s eight league games, and in the exact same number of Rangers’ games, and it looks a real opportunity to continue that trend on Friday.
