St Johnstone Preview – Can the Saints take the points on home soil?

Callum Davidson’s full-time role as St Johnstone manager started with a draw at Dundee United last weekend. After going a goal down early on and then having Michael O’Halloran sent off, the Saints did well to battle back to get a draw at Tannadice Park. Liam Craig’s 55th-minute goal rescued a point for Davidson.

Having finished in mid-table last term, St Johnstone will be hoping to build on that this time around. They won just eight times in last season’s Premiership, but only Celtic and Rangers suffered fewer league defeats.

Our betting prediction:
Both teams to score – No

St Johnstone had a mixed bag of results at McDiarmid Park last season, winning five, losing five and drawing six of 16 home league fixtures. Can they get their 2020-21 Premiership home campaign up and running with an important three points on Saturday?

At the time of writing, the Saints are available at 2/1 to take all three points from this tough clash with Aberdeen.

Aberdeen Preview – Will the Dons bounce back with a win?

Aberdeen took on Steven Gerrard’s Rangers at Pittodrie Stadium in their Premiership opener last weekend. It was close game, but Ryan Kent’s smart first-half finish gave the Gers all three points. Four minutes from time, Andrew Considine was sent off for a poor challenge.

Aberdeen were beaten to third spot by Motherwell last season. Derek McInnes’ men picked up 12 league wins, but they were beaten nine times. In the end, the Well pipped them to third by a single point. With Celtic and Rangers expected to battle for the title, the Dons will be eyeing up a third-place finish this term.

Aberdeen were a tough nut to crack away from home last season. In fact, their last away league reverse came at Celtic Park way back in December. The Old Firm clubs and Motherwell were the only sides to pick up more away points in last season’s Premiership.

After losing at home to Rangers last time out, Aberdeen will be hoping to get off the mark this weekend. The Reds head to Perth as the 11/8 favourites.

St Johnstone vs Aberdeen Betting Advice

Despite the 2019-20 Scottish season coming to a premature end, St Johnstone and Aberdeen met three times in the Premiership last term. The pair played out two 1-1 draws before St Johnstone picked up a 1-0 victory at Pittodrie back in February, with Alistair McCann’s early goal doing the business.
