St Johnstone Preview – Can the Saints cause an upset against the champions & league leaders?

St Johnstone are currently in eighth place in the Premiership table. The Saints have won five, drawn eight and lost eight thus far, scoring just 18 and shipping a staggering 38 goals along the way. Only St Mirren, who are two placed behind in tenth, have scored fewer goals (17) up until now.

St Johnstone go into Wednesday’s clash in decent form, losing only one of their past eight in all competitions, beating Hearts, Hamilton, Morton and Kilmarnock during that time. Last Saturday, goals from Alistair McCann and David Wotherspoon were enough to give them a 2-1 victory over Killie at McDiarmid Park.

The Saints have been solid on their own patch of late, losing only one of eight league and cup matches at McDiarmid Park. They are unbeaten in five (two wins, three draws), winning their last two on home turf. Can Tommy Wright’s improving side pick up a shock win over the Scottish champions and current league leaders on Wednesday night?

Celtic Preview – Will Lennon’s troops return to Glasgow with a vital three points in the bag?

Celtic’s title aspirations were given a huge boost after Rangers let a lead slip to lose to bottom club Hearts last weekend. The Bhoys have returned from the winter break with three straight league and cup wins. After beating Partick in the cup, Neil Lennon’s men have secured back-to-back league wins over Kilmarnock and Ross County.

Celtic have been sensational away from home this season. Since a 2-0 Premiership loss to Livingston back in October, the Hoops have won nine and lost one of their past ten away league and cup matches. Only rivals Rangers, who have played two games more, have picked up more away points, as Celtic have won eight of ten (one draw, one defeat).

Celtic are five points clear at the top of the table, though Lennon’s side have played a game more than their rivals. The Scottish champions have been superb on the road this term, and they will be targeting another comfortable away victory on Wednesday evening.

St Johnstone vs Celtic Betting Advice

Celtic are in outstanding form at the moment, and the Hoops will be gunning for their ninth away league victory of the season. When the pair locked horns at Celtic Park back in August, Lennon’s team secured an emphatic 7-0 win, with Ryan Christie helping himself to a hat-trick.

Key Facts – St Johnstone vs Celtic Betting Tip

  • St Johnstone are unbeaten at home in five league and cup matches, winning the last two
  • Celtic have won each of their last five away matches in the Premiership
  • The Celts have dropped just five away points this season

Celtic could claim another comfortable margin of victory in midweek. Check out the tempting price of 8/11 for the away side to be winning at half time and full time. Also, there’s good value in 6/4 for the Celts to win both halves at McDiarmid Park.

Odsonne Edouard has scored three goals in Celtic’s two opening Premiership matches of 2020. Overall, the 22-year-old, who netted in the reverse game at the beginning of the season, has scored 20 times this term. It could be worth backing the No. 22 to score the opening goal of this one at 10/3.
